Marie Perrier has been involved in calligraphy and book creation for decades. She has taught many workshops and does commissioned work. In 2004, one of her classes won the national prize in "Calligramme Competition". Marie also founded the Calligraphy Guild Association in France where she then presided over it for five years.
Marie has done research in the Museé vivant l' ècole on the hand called "la Ronde" in France, known as and compared to Blackletter Cursive here. She will bring some samples from the late 19th century to show at the workshop. She feels that it has maintained its popularity because it is easy to read and has a beautiful rhythm.
Thanks to a collector Marie managed to find a large supply of antique steel nibs especially appropriate for this hand, and she generously she passes those on for students to try.
Her love for calligraphy is apparent in that she teaches from kindergarten to college level, never tiring to pass on this beautiful craft.
