October Meeting Program: You Are There - The Life and Times of the Medieval ScribeWHO: E. Canter
This meeting takes us back in history to the people and practices that made the lasting manuscripts of the Middle Ages. There will be a short lecture on the scribes and illuminators - monastic and commercial - and then a longer period devoted to trying the techniques out for yourself -- quill curing and cutting, lettering on calfskin vellum, and gilding demonstrations. During the social time, eat drink and be merrie with a selection of tastye medieval snacks. We look forward to seeing you at the meeting. |
