On Thursday, the 26th of January, 2012, FOTA presented an evening of live calligraphy and invited the public to see this extrordinary art form in action.
In an ambiance of spot-lighting and quiet, observers were able to gain a greater appreciation of calligraphy and see that the artistry is not only what results on the finished page, but what happens in the process.

EXHIBIT
"Letterspace" - MAY 4 2013
Call for Entries
The Atlanta Friends of the Alphabet and Penablers
will be hanging an unjuried exhibit of calligraphy on Saturday, May 4th
in the Limelight Gallery at Binders Art Supply.
The title of the show is Letterspace.
Carol Gray is the contact person for Fota
and Anne Elser is the contact person for Penablers.
Carol would like to begin collecting pieces at the April 8th Fota Meeting.
Please bring between one and five framed and
ready to hang (with wire; no sawtooth hangers)
pieces of your calligraphy to the meeting.
If you need something framed, Binders is offering a 40% discount.
You would need to let them know that it is for this exhibit.
You must print off and fill out one form (see first attachment)
for each piece submitted.
Also, write identifying information on the back of your piece.
It would be very helpful if these pieces were packed for travelling,
wrapped or protected with cardboard, bubblewrap, etc.
If you are unable to come to the April Meeting,
but would still like to be part of this exhibit,
please contact Carol Gray by email or phone to make arrangements.

This is an exciting opportunity for everyone to show at least one piece of work in a great space!
Plans are underway to have a reception on Friday, May 10th. (More on this later).
The gallery hanging devices allow for lots of work to be displayed.
EXHIBIT OPPORTUNITIES
FOTA regularly considers opportunities to exhibit calligraphic works in many venues. If you have a gallery, public space, commercial area, restaurant, educational facility or other location, please contact us to discuss the possibilities. We're always happy for the chance to share our interest in letter arts with the broader community. |
