Dinner & A Movie: St. John's Bible Film Airs at Village Corner Restaurant
Saturday November 6, 7:00pm
Almost 500 years ago the bible was hand written and now it is happening again!
Hilde and Claus Friese would like you to join them for dinner at their acclaimed Stone Mountain German Restaurant to view the BBC documentary film covering the work and dedication that are going into this historic St. John's Bible Project. Afterwards, join in discussion following the film with coffee and dessert. The price of the event is 27.00 per person (plus gratuity and tax). new online directory of calligraphers for hire will soon be posted

The basic, free entry will include a
descriptive introductory paragraph of your styles and skills, as
well as two images of your work. These must be supplied by you in
digital format. For an additional $20 fee, you may have a link to an
entire personal web page listing longer descriptions and displaying
up to 6 images (which must be submitted in digital format). It's the
best deal in town, and a great way to establish your web presence,
if you don't already have a professional site.

Our Next Program: Holiday
Card Making and Silent Auction Monday, November 8th
7:00pm
Holiday cards can be as rewarding an experience
for the creator as for the recipient. At our next meeting, expand
your creative horizons with techniques and inspiration from some of
our guild's most inventive card designers. Learn the methods and try
them out at the meeting!
And during the meeting, we'll be conducting
a silent auction for prints and original works from some of
the world's best-known calligraphers. These pieces are by generous bequest
of the estate of Lucille Overall and proceeds will go to help the
guild. So not only will you find unmatched pricing on these great
works, but you'll help yourself in the process.
As always, refreshments are available and we
encourage you to peruse our terrific library during the social time.
As always, we are hosted at the beautiful Trinity United Methodist
Church. We look forward to seeing you!
Workshops: One
Incredible International Line-up Coming very
soon...
FROM GEORGIA! One-Day GILDING
workshop with Sharon Coogle: "Fool's Gold" or "All that
glitters" She will provide myriad materials to try out and their
proper applications that ALL look golden, but do not require real
leaf gold and it's tricky application, achieving great effects. She
enjoys sharing her tricks and teaching her know-how in a fun and
stimulating way.
Up to 20 students $65.- includes supplies
and hand-outs date: January 15, 2005 Registration by 1-4 05
with payment in full
FROM FRANCE! Two-Day Roundhand
with Marie Perrier-Penloup Marie is a fine calligrapher from
Paris, who put together her own curriculum (In France very few
people teach, even if they are excellent in their craft, as it is a
carefully guarded art). Marie is the exception. Her work is pure
precession. She has added a fluency to Roundhand that is decorative
and charming.
Provided we have a minimum of 16 participants
she will teach a two day workshop February 28 & 27,
2005 Cost $ 85.-, due with sign-up by January 15th, since we need
at least three weeks advance to book her flight.
FROM CALIFORNIA! Ward Dunham will
be with us at least one week! Monthly Meeting will be moved up
to Monday, April 4th — "Fountain pens and other frivolous
tools". A two-hour presentation in which he will bring some
of his wares for sale, especially the beautiful seals he reproduces
from antiques (and other frivolous things).
Wednesday, April 6th — "How to make your
page look better" A fantastic three-hour talk that is a steal
of a mini workshop for members at $ 5.- , or $ 10.- for
none-members.
April 9 & 10 — Two-day workshop
BLACKLETTER If we can get at least 10 people to sign up for
the follow-up to the Blackletter, which is a wonderful fluent
Blackletter cursive, Ward is willing to teach that to those who have
taken the two day workshop on Monday, April 11.
Cost $50.-, unless we have more than 10 to drop the
price. Up to 20 students $ 85 Sign-up by March 15,
2005
FROM AUSTRALIA! September 10 &
11,2005 — Dave Wood: The Northern Hemisphere Tour! ( Finland,
England, Germany, USA - cris-crossing it twice). No exact
workshop specified, but embossing is a possibility. More
developments on this workshop to come....
For this wonderful selection of learning payments are required in
full. Please make out separate checks for each. It makes returning
money easier if one or the other workshop does not make quota.
THESE WORKSHOPS ARE OPEN TO NON-MEMBERS! Feel free to
promote
them! |
